Type | Vanguard |
---|---|
Vanguard | Magneto, Venom, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hulk, Peni Parker, Thor |
Duelist | Black Panther, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hela, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Magik, Moon Knight, Namor, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, Spiderman, Squirrel Girl, Star-Lord, Storm, The Punisher, Winter Soldier, Wolverine |
Strategist | Warlock, Luna Snow, Mantis, Rocket Racoon, Cloak & Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki |
Magneto
Magneto assumes a Vanguard-type role and, according to the players, is one of the strongest of Marvel Rivals characters. Similar to the comics, his magnet-based abilities deal deadly blows to the opponents on the battlefield. He ominously floats around the map, pulls metal pieces, throws projectiles, and creates a metal shield to protect himself. And his ultimate power is to shoot a giant metal meteor at the enemy squad.
Venom
Venom was first introduced in Marvel Comics in 1984 and is a popular character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He joins Marvel Rivals as a massive Vanguard character. He is pretty sturdy, and paired with Symbiotic Resilience and Venom Swing, he is remarkably difficult to kill. Besides, his ultimate, Feast of Abyss, boosts his health.
Damage-wise, his tentacles can be deadly. When combined with Frenzied Arrival to close the gap and Cellular Corrosion to slow down the enemies, he can be a menace.
Storm
Storm, as in the comics, uses the power of weather to kill her opponents. This Duelist-type Marvel Rivals character uses wind, lightning, and hurricanes to control the flow of battle. Her ability on both feet and in the sky makes her highly maneuverable. And when at full power, she let loose a gale-force storm to sweep the characters in her way.
Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier, or Bucky Barners, is also a Duelist-type character who can pick up his enemies with a grappling hook and often catch them off-guard. With his vibranium arm, he looks like a strong force to reckon with. He has a pistol that fires explosive rounds and causes heavy damage.
He can also use his bionic limb to pull the enemies, make an uppercut to launch them into the air, and use tentacles to whip enemies.
Luna Snow
Luna Snow, a pop star turned hero, enters Marvel Rivals as one of the powerful support characters. As a strategist character, her use cases are many. Depending on the active mode, she can use her ice abilities to heal her teammates or eliminate her foes. Also, she can get through any tricky situations with her skating agility.
Captain America
Captain America was revealed in his trusted shield alongside his friend-turned-enemy, the Winter Soldier. He focuses on pushing his enemies rather than blocking damage from incoming attacks. And when it comes to attacks, he has plenty, including Leading Dash, Sentinel Strike, and Fearless Leap. If played right, it can be one of the most lethal characters in the game.
Punisher
Frank Castle, aka Punisher, is your Call of Duty-type character who shoots his foes with an assault rifle and shotgun. As a duelist, he deals huge chunks of damage with accurate timing and team-ups. His free movements are restricted, but his Vantage connection ability spawns a zipline between two points and lets him move up and down stories on a map.
Warlock
Adam Warlock, the intergalactic child of light, enters the Marvel Rivals arena as a strategist. He is one of the stronger ones who acts as a support to heal and revive his teammates. At his ultimate, he turns into a golden-locked hero who revives all of his fallen teammates. Not only that, his attacks are also powerful. His Cosmic Cluster bomb or quantum magic projectiles can blow away the enemies.
Mantis
Like Warlock, Mantis is a strategist and healer who might seem tricky at first but can be a great addition to your team. She throws her Life Energy Blasts to generate a Life Orb, which she can use in many ways. She can use it to grant her allies or herself a damage boost or heal her allies over time and raise their movement speed. Additionally, she can heal herself passively using the Life orb.
Iron Man
Iron Man is an aerial-based duelist that can fire missiles, lasers, and bombs on opponents from above. He has two basic attacks: Repulsor Blasts, which are regular canon shots to deal explosive damage, and Unibeam attack, which pierces a laser straight through the battlefield. Besides, you can use his Hyper Velocity to fly freely and Armor Overdrive ability to boost his attack.
Moon Knight
Moon Knight, the avatar of the Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu, sets his foot on the game to sweep through his enemies. Similar to other duelists, its attack can deal heavy damage. Crescent darts and Ankhs are his main weaponry that deals severe damage on direct hits. And he can throw his grappling hook to move swiftly across the map.
The Hands of Khonshu is his ultimate ability that rains down hands from the sky, damaging enemies spread over a distance.
Hela
Hela is one of the strongest characters in Marvel Rivals, provided you use her the right way. She is a long-range, sniper-like Duelist who can kill enemies from a distance and dodge attacks from the air. From her Nightsword Thorns, she throws a series of hellish daggers at oncoming foes. Her ultimate attack is to shoot into the sky and launch shadow bombs onto anyone below.
Rocket Racoon
Rocket Racoon, your favorite intergalactic junkie, is another top Strategist class hero. His over-the-shoulder canon is the primary source of damage, and he can switch to repair mode to shoot healing orbs and help the team. His other abilities include reviving a fallen ally, providing him with a burst of armor, and turning on a jetpack to move faster.
Magik
Magik, another strategist in the Marvel Rivals arena, is a force to behold. Using her iconic Soulsword, she can slice and dice enemies up close and launch slices of magic on the enemy team. Also, she can teleport a short distance and summon a demon to do the heavy lifting. Her ultimate ability is to transform into Darkchild, which boosts her other abilities for a limited time.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye might be a favorite character of a few, but certainly, there is a lot to love in the game. He is a straight-up marksman whose quiver doesn’t have any normal arrows.
For example, his blast arrow scatters into three different arrows to fly at the enemy team, while the Hypersonic arrow damages anyone in its path. Also, he has a katana for up-close encounters. His ultimate ability is Hunter’s Sight, where he captures after images of enemies and deals damage to them.
Psylocke
Marvel Rival takes the stealth of Psylocke to a whole new level. She stays invisible in the shadows before using her Wing Shuriken to slice through the enemies. Aside from that, she can use her Psi-Blad Dash to swiftly dash and damage everyone she hits. Her speed and invisibility come with a caveat, as her health reserve isn’t great compared to many characters in this tier.
Doctor Strange
Your favorite sorcerer is in this game as a Vanguard. He uses his Seraphim ability to protect his allies with a barrier that can take up to 800 damage. When his shield is down, he can throw Daggers of Denark to cause major damage to his opponents. And movement-wise, his Cloak of Levitation allows him to fly across the arena.
Namor
Marvel’s king of the sea, Namor, finds his place in the launch roster of Marvel Rivals. He is a duelist who can summon a Monstro Spawn to attack his enemies. Also, he can create a protective barrier called the Blessing of the Deep that launches him into the air to keep him safe. His ultimate ability is Horn of Proteus, which summons a Giganto and nullifies his rivals’ movement-based attacks.
Groot
Groot is amongst the easier Vanguard class heroes to master in Marvel Rivals. His Thornslash wall ability is to protect him and his allies, as well as strike nearby enemies. There is also an Ironwood Wall ability that blocks a path in the map and helps control the pace of your game. He also strikes his opponents with deadly vines or fills the area with spore bombs to kill the enemies slowly.
Thor
The son of Odin and the god of Thunder is in the game with his iconic hammer, Mjolnir. As in the movies, he can throw the hammer at his enemies and surge a devastating wave of electricity on them. This vanguard-type hero has a unique ability called Thorforce. It stacks the lightning over time and hits enemies spread in an area.
Star-Lord
Star-lord, the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, takes center stage in the battle arena of Marvel Rivals. Courtesy of his Jet Propulsion boots, he can swiftly move from one place to another and use his mini SMGs to fire at the opponents. He also possesses a Blaster Barrage ability that fires a frenzy of shots and damages opponents up close.
His ultimate ability is Galactic Legend, which allows him to fly in the air and shoot enemies with pinpoint accuracy.
Loki
Loki, the god of Mischief, takes the role of strategist in the game. He uses his scepter to heal fire or damage orbs and can go invisible to trick the enemies. His ultimate ability to transform into any enemy or ally makes him a great addition to the team.
Hulk
Hulk, aka Bruce Banner, is a Vanguard-class character and one of the tankiest in the game. Bruce can still roam around with a pistol if Hulk dies fighting in the game. As such, you can live as two characters with Hulk pushing in front. However, Bruce is the weakest and has the lowest health.
When it transforms into Hulk, it enters a “Hero-Hulk” form where you can punch, grapple and throw your opponents. His other abilities, including Hulk Smash and Incredible Leap, cause deadly devastation to the enemies.
Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch, a Duelist, is one of the most potent magic-wielders in the game, and she can create chaos within her opponents with her magic. She throws magic-like projectiles to harm her enemies and can get invisible to help her team establish a perfect offensive position. Her ultimate ability is chaos control, which deals damage based on a percentage.
Spiderman
Spiderman can be an option for those who like to swing through the battlefield and fight enemies. However, he’s probably the most complex character due to his low health, weaknesses, and abilities. His usual abilities include wall-crawling, swinging across the map, shooting a web cluster, and spidey sense. His ultimate ability, Spectacular spin, launches web clusters in all directions to stun and damage his enemies.
Black Panther
Black Panther is a duelist-type character with a perfect combo of ranged and close-range attacks. He can use his Vibranium claws to slash at enemies, while a Dora Milaje can take down enemies from a distance. His ultimate ability is summoning a God (bast) to transform into an ethereal panther and cause massive damage.
Peni Parker
Peni Parker is a known Spider-verse franchise character operating within a giant mech-like robot. She is a vanguard who can use cyberwebs to pull or trap enemies and pull herself forward. Her cyberwebs can also immobilize enemies and grant healing and movement buffs. Finally, her ultimate ability enhances her suit and can deploy Arachno-Mines, Spider-Drones, and Cyber Webs as she moves.
Jeff the Land Shark
It is one of the most underrated characters in Marvel Rivals. This land-based apex predator can use the power of the ocean to deal damage and heal his team. And his ultimate ability is to gobble up an enemy and teleport them back to the spawn point.

New Characters in Marvel Rivals
A few days ago, Marvel's new trailer revealed a few new characters: Cloak and Dagger, Wolverine, Black Widow, Iron Fist, and Squirrel Girl. Here are a few details:
Cloak and Dagger
Cloak and Dagger are two of Marvel Rivals’ new characters whose abilities and types are yet to be confirmed. However, the trailer makes it evident that they would work the same way as in the comic.
Considering they are both healers and daggers, they will supposedly take the strategist role. They act as one, and even though Cloak sometimes goes into darkness, Dagger pulls him out. Users will get to play with two super-powered beings, but they can be difficult to get used to.
Iron Fist

Wolverine is an unclassified character in Marvel Rivals, but considering his battle style and the damage he causes, he feels like a Duelist. Some of his abilities will include slashes and swipes with Adamantium claws. Also, his strong smell might allow him to sense his enemies from far away.
Black Widow
Black Widow, despite a new character, is officially a duelist who will take on sniper class in the game. That is, she can hit her enemies from long distances but can engage in short-range fights. Her movements can, however, be restricted only to her foot.

Part 3: How to Set Parental Control on Marvel Rivals?
With Marvel being a classic IP and an Overwatch-like game mode, everyone from teenagers to adults are looking forward to this game. At this point some parents want to allow their children to play the game, but are concerned about their children becoming addicted to the game. This is where setting up a parental control for the game becomes important.
NetEase has also launched its own parental control feature called Child guardian, but this feature can only monitor your child's playing time, logging in and limiting in-game spending behavior, the supervision function is not comprehensive enough.
At this point, you can consider using a third-party parental monitoring software, FamiGuard Monisen, which was originally designed for employees to monitor their computers, but the individual program also applies to parents.
1 FamiGuard Monisen can detect your child's keyboard input, so if your child types or uses inappropriate words, you will know immediately.
2 FamiGuard Monisen can also have a real-time screen, automatically screenshot. If your kids encounter unfriendly players in the game, you can know the situation soon.
3 Parents can monitoring kids’ computers remotely. After setting-up, extra verification is not required.
